OG Kush Seeds: the California Original Behind the OG Family
OG Kush from Origin Seed Co is the strain much of West Coast cannabis traces back to. Our feminized OG Kush seeds come from Chemdawg 91 x Hindu Kush: an indica-dominant hybrid, about 75% indica and 25% sativa, with 19–26% THC, an earthy, piney, sour lemon flavor and a euphoric high that settles into deep relaxation. It flowers in 55–65 days, about 8–9 weeks, and it is rated moderate to grow: rewarding, but it asks for steady humidity and careful feeding.
Is OG Kush an indica or a sativa?
OG Kush is an indica-dominant hybrid, about 75% indica and 25% sativa. Its parents are Chemdawg 91 and Hindu Kush, and it changed West Coast cannabis in the mid-1990s. Nearly every strain with "OG" in its name carries some of its genetics.
What does OG Kush taste and smell like?
Earthy pine and sour lemon with a fuel edge; growers often describe it as pine cleaner mixed with lemon and diesel. Myrcene gives the earthy base, limonene the lemon and caryophyllene the peppery, fuel-like bite. The smell is strong in late flower and in the jar.
How strong is OG Kush, and what does it feel like?
THC runs from 19 to 26%, so it is a strong strain. It opens with a euphoric lift and settles into a heavy, relaxing body high that turns sleepy as the evening goes on, which is why most people save it for the end of the day.
How long does OG Kush take to flower?
About 55–65 days, or 8–9 weeks, once you switch the lights to 12/12. Outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere it finishes in early to mid October.
How much does OG Kush yield, and how tall does it grow?
Expect about 400–500 g/m² indoors and around 600 g per plant outdoors. Plants reach 100–180 cm. Left alone it grows like a Christmas tree, one main cola over smaller branches, so topping it once and spreading the canopy with low-stress training (LST) gives more colas and a bigger harvest.
How do you grow OG Kush?
It is rated moderate. OG Kush is sensitive to humidity and feeding: keep relative humidity around 45–50% in veg and 40–45% in flower, keep fans moving air through the canopy to head off powdery mildew, add Cal-Mag and go easy on nitrogen. It loves warm, dry weather, so outdoor growers in California and the dry Western states do best with it; in humid climates, watch closely for mildew late in the season. Indoors, run a carbon filter.
OG Kush or OG Kush Auto?
If you want the same family on a faster clock, OG Kush Auto is OG Kush crossed with ruderalis: it flowers on its own, goes from seed to harvest in 8–10 weeks under any light schedule and is rated easy. Choose OG Kush for the full photoperiod plant and its bigger yields, and the auto for speed and simplicity.
